Delete your account

You can do this from inside the garden too, on your account page.

What gets deleted

This is immediate and cannot be undone. There is no grace period and no way for us to restore it for you afterwards.

One copy can briefly outlive it: our database is backed up once a day and each backup is kept for seven days, so a deleted entry is gone from the last of them within a week. Nobody reads those backups — they exist so a technical accident cannot take everybody's writing with it. The privacy policy says more.

Take your writing with you first

If there is anything in your garden you would want to read again, sign in below and download it before you delete. It takes one tap and the file is plain readable text.

Do it

Step 1 — confirm it's you

We will email you a link. Opening it brings you back to this page, signed in. We ask for this because a page that deletes a diary on a single click is a page somebody could be tricked into opening.

If you cannot sign in

If you no longer have access to the email address on the account, write to hello@brainpetals.com from any address and say which email the account uses. We will verify what we reasonably can and delete it for you.

Deleting somebody's diary because a stranger asked would be far worse than making you wait, so this route is slower and involves a person. If you can still get into your email, the button above is instant.
